Lacunza began teaching English in 1954 and nowadays, it receives more than 3,500 students a year. In 1989, it opened its Spanish Department, which has become a very
popular centre today. We are members of the International House, an organisation recognised throughout the world for its effective and pleasant teaching methodology.
Located in the centre of San Sebastián, our installations, inaugurated in July of 2000 and expanded in May of 2004, have been designed to facilitate the communication and learning of Spanish in a very pleasant atmosphere.
The terrace, the lounge area with a library and multimedia computers with DSL, the projection room, lecture hall, airconditioning, and the high fidelity sound, video and music installations available during breaks and periods of relaxation, furnish the ideal atmosphere for encouraging contacts and interactions with other students and for
concentrating on one’s studies.
We rely on teachers who are experts in teaching Spanish who appreciate the importance of teamwork, exchange ideas, review the latest innovations in methodology and undergo continuous training in order to guarantee teaching
at the highest level.
We have analysed every aspect of the service we offer in order to make your stay highly valuable and unforgettable from the very beginning.

Social and cultural activities: In the school, we organise parties to encourage contact with other students, chats and lectures, videos, international cooking and visits to the Casas de Cultura, the radio stations, exhibitions, the Palace of Congresses...
And as members of a typical gastronomic society, we organise dinners prepared by volunteer students themselves and with the assistance of a monitor.
Sports: In San Sebastián, you can practise many sports. Golf, tennis, horseback riding... we will give you all the information. Many surfers are attracted by our waves at Gros, Mundaka, Hossegor... The Mundaiz gym, located near the School, offers special discounts to our students. The Municipal Sports Board is very active and, if you become a member, you can go to the sports complexes and sign up for the courses they organise. During the summer, courses in 20 different sports are organised, from surfing, canoeing and sailing to tennis, hang-gliding and mountain climbing. The School also organises sports activities, such as soccer matches, volley-ball, horseback riding, biking, hiking to the mountains... Excursions: We also take advantage of the natural wealth of the Basque Country, with special excursions to its unique natural areas.
We visit the coastal towns, Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum, Pamplona, France, and we make full week-end excursions in the more tranquil months. Skiing, Sports, Agricultural Tourism...
