The school building of La Janda IH Vejer dates from the middle of the 19th century and is constructed on top tof the ancient Moorish walls which surround the town of Vejer de la Frontera. The school has eight classrooms, a television and video room, an internet room, a library and a good collection of films, administrative offices, two private apartments for the use of students and also a garden and terrace with spectacular views out over the surrounding countryside.

The standard of teaching is extremely high. La Janda IH Vejer is a member of the International House World Organisation, is accredited by the Instituto Cervantes and holds the CEELE Certificate. La Janda is a small school with between 30 and 80 students, depending on the time of the year, and one where everyone receives very personalised attention. The students are of very different ages and nationalities. The Spanish language and culture course attracts people from 17 to 70 years of age and young people from the age of 14 can join the Junior Course in the summer.

The teaching at La Janda is based on a highly effective and practical communicative methodology and the activities both in and out of the classroom lead to a high level of student participation. Classes focus on the students\' real needs and on developing the four major linguistic skills: reading, writing, speaking and comprehension. All of our teachers are university graduates, qualified in teaching Spanish as a foreign language and with considerable experience in the classroom. They are all required to take part in annual refresher courses.

- Standard Intensive course: 20 classes a week, 3-10 students/group, Programme of Activities.

- Super-Intensive Spanish: 30 classes a week, 3-10 students/group, Programme of Activities.

- Flamenco culture course: a 2 week course, 20 classes of Spanish, 20 classes of flamenco dance or guitar, 3-10 students/group, Programme of Activities.

- Private classes: private classes for preparing the DELE examination or on any other specialised topic, Programme of Activities.

- Junior course.

- Programme with everything included: 20 classes a week, special activities, accommodations with a Spanish family, full board, excursions and transfers.

- Christmas Course: 16 classes a week, a special Programme of Activities, 3-10 students/group.

SHARED FLATS AND HOUSES:

Accommodation in typical Andalusian houses or in flats. The sharing of a kitchen, living room and bathroom, with single or double bedroom accommodations.

SPANISH FAMILIES:

Half or full board in a single or double bedroom, with a Spanish family. Every need will be catered to: non-smokers, vegetarians, pet lovers etc.

PRIVATE FLATS:

There are two private flats available in the same school and it is possible to arrange for others in the old quarter or in the newer part of town.

All of the courses include a free of charge Programme of Activities which is offered in the afternoon: Parties • Cooking classes • Walks • Cinema • Lectures • Sports.
There are week-end excursions to Sevilla, Cádiz, Ronda and the picturesque White Towns of Andalusia, Tarifa, Bolonia, La Sierra of Cádiz mountain range or to the Los Alcornocales National Park. The proximity to the coast and to the natural parks make Vejer the ideal centre for the practise of all kinds of sports activities.
