Carmen de las Cuevas, accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, is magnificently located between the two historic neighbourhoods of Albaicin and Sacromonte, in a lovely house with terraces cut into the hillside and breathtaking views of the Alhambra.But it is not just the school´s facilities we are proud of; rather the 20 years of experience and enthusiasm we have put into all we do.

The groups are small, allowing greater individual attention and facilitating a more personal relationship with the teachers who form a compact, dynamic group. All of them are highly motivated in teaching Spanish to foreigners and have a great deal of experience, which means they have developed a well-planned programme, which is continually revised and improved. The teachers work as a real team, something which is essential for the efficient running and coordination of the classes.

Perhaps our main characteristic is the friendly and trusting atmosphere we have managed to create among students, which is essential if you are to make the most of your stay with us. You will have a key to the school so that you can use all the available facilities at any time of day or night (such as the video library, library, internet, etc.).

In addition to all the above, our school is a centre of flamenco. So if you want to combine flamenco with Spanish lessons this is the right place. Carmen de las Cuevas is highly acclaimed in Andalusia as a place where professionals and enthusiasts come together.

Our accommodations are located in the historic quarter of the Albaicín and close to the school and city centre.
We can offer different kinds of accommodation: single or double rooms in shared student accommodations, private apartments or Spanish families.

programme of activities

A cultural programme of 4 hours weekly is available for any student enrolled on a course. The course is offered entirely in Spanish and consists of guided tours and cultural talks. The intensive morning Spanish course can also be combined with a special afternoon horse riding programme. The riding centre is close to Granada in the middle of the Sierra Nevada National Park and it is also possible to organise short riding trips on the weekends.At the week ends we also offer different excursions: Granada’s costa tropical, the villages in the Alpujarras, the Guadix region, Cordoba, Sevilla…
